Financial information
The Marysville Community Food Bank receives over 70,000 pounds of usable product every month from individuals, food drives, and local grocery stores. This translates into $105,000 of value we distribute to over 1,000 clients each month. We receive additional monetary support from local churches, organizations, and individuals. Less than 25% of our food comes directly from Northwest Harvest, Food Lifeline, Volunteers of America, and government food programs.
The financial support of the community allows us to provide food for the needy, pick-up food donations, pay overhead costs, and have one half-time employee to direct the food bank. We stretch every donation as far as possible by purchasing food in bulk from the most affordable source. All overhead expenses are kept at a minimum. The local support is crucial as we seek to help the hungry in our community.
Local community groups such as Rotary, Soroptimist, Kiwanis, Lions, Knights of Columbus, and many others are very supportive of the food bank with donations, food drives, and volunteer time. Local schools and the City of Marysville help tremendously wtih food drives and volunteers. Numerous churches donate funds, sponsor food drives, and send volunteers our way. It is the generous support from these groups and local businesses that allow us to serve.
