Volunteer at the Food Bank
We have many volunteer opportunities. Our volunteers have lots of fun and enjoy the service they are able to give to the community. We have over 100 volunteers each month sorting food, picking up grocery rescue donations, processing clients, and distributing food to our clients.
Volunteers should wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and dress in layers as it is usually cold in the warehouse. Bring your application in with you when you are ready to start volunteering and we will put you to work immediately! If you are bringing in a group of 4 or more volunteers, please call or e-mail the food bank to set a date.
Sorting Food Donations
It takes many hands to sort all the food that is brought in by drivers 5 days a week. Food sorting hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Drivers
We can always use more help in this area! Drivers with a van or covered pick-up go to local grocery stores to load donations and bring them to the food bank. Drivers are also needed to make home deliveries to home-bound seniors. Volunteer drivers must have a clean police record. We reimburse mileage upon request.
Food Distribution
Tuesdays and Fridays are our busy distribution days. Volunteers process clients on the computer, load food into carts, distribute grocery items, supervise produce and bread areas, and sort food on these days. Volunteers are needed between 2:30 -6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. on Fridays.
